The Grapevine (4/25/22): Sidelined Stars Rumored To Return On This Week's RAW, More Turns Expected For WWE

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    Asuka reportedly returning to TV

Asuka is reportedly coming back to RAW on tomorrow's episode to feud with Becky Lynch. Lynch is also returning to the show after not being seen since WrestleMania, while Asuka has not been seen since July because of an injury. Asuka and Lynch interacted with each other when Lynch took time off for her pregnancy in 2020, as she awarded Asuka the RAW Women's Championship after the latter won the Money in the Bank contract. We say: The source is apparently solid as they have broken some news that have turned out to be true, so we'll keep our eyes open. The RAW women's division (actually, both women's divisions) need some more depth at the moment, which makes it a good time for Asuka to return.

Ali may be coming to RAW

Sidelined SmackDown Superstar Ali could be appearing on RAW tomorrow. There was apparently a pitch made for him to appear on the show this week, and it would be his first appearance since November 2021, after he and Vince McMahon reportedly got into a "heated argument" about a storyline involving him, and the company denied his requests to be released. (Source: Fightful)

We say: SmackDown needs a lot more help than RAW these days, but anything that could bolster both brands' sadly shallow rosters is probably for the best. Better for Ali to work than to get stuck in a contract doing nothing at home.

More turns expected soon in WWE

Vince McMahon feels some WWE Superstars are "miscast" in their roles, so there might be some more turns happening soon. This follows SmackDown's Xia Li appearing to turn heel on last Friday's episode, after months of work introducing her character as a babyface. (Source: WrestlingNews.co)

We say: It just goes to show how much of a mess WWE usually is creatively nowadays. There's really nothing wrong with having to change things, it's just a matter of how they're going to get around doing it. For Xia, they just had her turn in an interview segment after not appearing for weeks, and it doesn't make enough sense.
