Play Henry: WWE 2K22 Reveals The Full Roster

The long-awaited WWE 2K22 roster reveal has finally been released. 2K just posted the official list of playable Superstars in this year's game and I'd like to say that I'm still happy with the turnout. As rumored, the vast majority of released Superstars are still available to play as and that makes the armchair booker in me even happier. You can check out the official roster here.

Fan-favorites like Peyton Royce, Mickie James, Kyle O'Reilly, Keith Lee, and a few others luckily made the roster even after appearing on rival promotions. I'm also happy to confirm that first-timers like Karrion Kross (with Scarlett as manager), Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Tegan Nox, and Timothy Thatcher made the cut as well. Some surprising names like Reckoning and Slapjack (of RETRIBUTION), and Road Dogg Jesse James are also present to make a very deep, albeit outdated, roster.

Meanwhile, as much as I'm happy, I'm still a little befuddled on some notable roster omissions that I expected to be in. WWE Hall of Famer Lita—who recently competed against Becky Lynch—is not playable despite being part of the previous years' rosters. I'm also surprised that Bray Wyatt, who was released from the company after some of the names in the roster, is not playable. Other big omissions include the giant Omos, Doudrop, and Commander Azeez—although I can believe that these three could make it as future downloadable content (DLC). Rob Van Dam was also noticeably absent despite being sharing a WWE Tag Team Championship reign with cover star Rey Mysterio's WWE during his SmackDown run. Speaking of tag teams, MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) are also missing from the roster despite a very solid 2021 run.

Who knows if any of the previously mentioned names would be part of future DLC, however, a lot of interesting names have been floated around. So far, only Machine Gun Kelly and the nWo (Hollywood Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Syxx) were announced as DLC. Rumored names include Umaga, The Boogeyman, LA Knight, and Ronda Rousey, to name a few. Rumbles of an NXT 2.0 pack is also running in the rumor mill—especially with how high WWE management is on the current NXT Champion Bron Breakker.

Personally, I'll miss seeing Superstars like Adam Cole, Alistair Black, Bray Wyatt, and Daniel Bryan. However, the silver lining in all this is the previously announced cross-platform Community Creations. You'll most likely be able to download all the Superstars you miss via your favorite content creators in the future. This is still a solid roster and I'm even starting to plan ahead for Play Henry's planned MyGM and Universe content.
