More news on Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns at Day 1
The Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns match for the Universal Championship at Day 1 on January 1, 2022 is to make the new PPV a big deal. The PPV, which is reportedly the brainchild of WWE President Nick Khan, is meant to be a new holiday tradition moving forward to try and boost the lackluster-performing December PPV events. As such, WWE is stacking the card with big matches to make it a must-see event. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: This sounds a little like plausible conjecture more than anything, but if there's anything good it accomplished, it's that it got rid of the historically terrible (on paper) TLC PPV. Now if we can just do that for Elimination Chamber, Hell in a Cell, and Extreme Rules, we'd be good.
AJ Styles and Omos to finally split up
The current storyline between AJ Styles and Omos is being done to finally split them up. The original plan was to split them up at the WWE Draft, but officials spoke up against it, arguing that Omos wasn't ready just yet to be a singles star. Omos's dominant performance in the battle royale at this past Survivor Series was the start of his push. (Source: WrestlingNews.co)
We say: Well, this one's pretty obvious to everyone who's been paying even the least bit of attention to AJ Styles and Omos. Whether or not Omos is ready for this opportunity, we'll see soon enough, but let's hope they stretch it out to WrestleMania.
