Backstage news on the Rock's involvement at Survivor Series
Scheduling conflicts prevented the Rock from making an appearance at this year's Survivor Series, the 25th anniversary of his WWE debut. The show was originally planned to center on him and an appearance, which coincided with the release of his Netflix film Red Notice. WWE knew that the Rock couldn't make the show as early as September, but they were still obligated to promote the movie. Meanwhile, WWE seemed to have planted seeds for a Rock vs. Roman Reigns storyline with Vince McMahon's involvement, but a match at WrestleMania 38 next year is unlikely due to more scheduling conflicts. We say: It's a little weird that they couldn't even get him to do a pre-taped promo, which would have at least made sense as people were already used to seeing him appear live via satellite. We wonder what stopped him from doing that.
Plans for Cameron Grimes
The Hair vs. Hair match between Cameron Grimes and Duke Hudson scheduled for NXT WarGames is apparently to give Grimes a new look. Vince McMahon himself reportedly wanted a new look for Grimes, which was why he appeared on NXT 2.0 this week with a shorter hair and beard, and spoke more seriously. (Source: WrestlingNews.co)
We say: That does explain a lot, and we're interested to see where Grimes's character will go from here. It seems they've got plans for him, which is saying a lot considering who the company has released recently.
