The Grapevine (9/1/21): More News On Brock Lesnar's WWE Signing, Update on Roman Reigns vs. the Rock, Notes on Miz and Alexa Bliss

    Brock Lesnar

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

Brock Lesnar signed to appease FOX

Brock Lesnar was signed to a last-minute deal before SummerSlam because FOX was reportedly not happy CM Punk went to AEW. Punk apparently had a positive relationship with FOX from his time on WWE Backstage, and the network was said to be upset that WWE did not offer Punk big money to return. This led to WWE needing to sign Lesnar, as well as bring Becky Lynch to SmackDown. (Source: WON)

We say: That's lucky for Lesnar, who ultimately won by getting the deal he wanted in the end. The fans win too, as Punk going to AEW really did force WWE to step up.

Roman Reigns vs. the Rock likely moved to WrestleMania 39

On the note related to Lesnar, it looks like the plan is to have Lesnar face Reigns at WrestleMania 38 in Dallas. The original plan was supposed to be Roman Reigns vs. the Rock in front of a crowd at that event, but Vince McMahon reportedly prefers to have the match at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles. However, it's also possible that Lesnar/Reigns could happen at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in October. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: Holding it in Los Angeles in 2023 will be a good idea if they can find a way to sustain the Head of the Table until then. We don't know if they can pull that off, though, so it might be best to just have Reigns vs. the Rock as soon as possible.

Update on the Miz and Alexa Bliss from this week's RAW

The Miz and Alexa Bliss were not on this week's episode of RAW. Miz was not backstage even though he was advertised for a match against John Morrison, while Bliss was and was not used after Vince McMahon ordered rewrites of the episode. It seems that her budding storyline with Charlotte Flair started last week had been dropped. (Source: WrestlingNews.co)

We say: Well, for those who were curious, that's that. The Miz not being around is the strangest occurrence from these two, so we hope he's okay.
