Theme Song Tuesday: This Is What Evalution Sounds Like

This Sunday (Manila time) at SummerSlam, Eva Marie will have her biggest match since returning to WWE earlier this year when she takes on Alexa Bliss. While I'm not the biggest Eva Marie fan around, I'm excited enough to see what she, Alexa, and Doudrop end up doing at SummerSlam. After all, they've spent weeks building up to this through their segments on Alexa's Playground, Lilly's appearances, and everything else they've put into this storyline.

Since we're still a few days away from the big event, I figured I might as well feature Eva Marie's current theme song on this week's #ThemeSongTuesday. So here goes!

Eva Marie's entrance theme is a hip-hop track produced by def rebel, the same group that's been working on a lot of the current generation of entrance themes. They collaborated with Naomi Fox, a Brooklyn-based rapper whose vocals we've heard before on WWE programming. You've been hearing her voice on NXT TV, particularly through Franky Monet's theme and this year's In Your House theme, which she even performed live at NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

Let's get into the theme itself. Right off the bat, it screams bombast, which fits Eva Marie's character of being an attention-seeker. It also adds a level of swagger that only a hip-hop theme can provide. As Naomi Fox raps, "I'm a boss chick, boss chick, boss chick," you can imagine Eva just flaunting everything she has because she can. Sounds about right.

Fox's Jamaican influences come out clearly in her rapping, especially the way she pronounces words in the verses. The lyrics aren't really anything to write home about. They're pretty basic and don't stand out as clever or unique. The bars don't flow together all that well either because she relies on the beat to space out her lines.

That said, "Boss It" is still a fun track to listen to. If you want to listen to a current wrestling theme that makes you want to just front and flaunt, you can add Eva Marie's theme to your playlist. Unlike the CFO$-produced tracks of old, we didn't just get a verse and a hook that you can play on loop for over five minutes. This is an actual song with two verses, a pre-chorus and a hook. Depending on how you feel today, this song could actually slap—or make you want to slap somebody.
