Nick Khan was reportedly warned about AEW
WWE president Nick Khan was reportedly warned about AEW becoming a problem when he took his current position with the company, despite other people downplaying the threat. While WWE is still leading, AEW is currently closing the gap, especially after big moves such as the signing of CM Punk, and Khan and WWE's public stance is that they don't consider AEW as competition. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: It was still rather negligible in AEW's first year, but at this point, WWE will have to get their heads out of their asses if they don't want to play nice. They may not be going head-to-head (yet), but AEW is already gaining a lot of ground and they may want to take that seriously.
Backstage details on Karrion Kross's new look
Karrion Kross debuted a new look on this week's episode of RAW, which saw him come out to the ring in a leather helmet and wear gladiator-like suspenders as part of his ring gear. This is apparently a push to make Kross's look distinct and marketable. (Source: Andrew Zarian)
We say: It's typical WWE, and our only gripe probably is that maybe they shouldn't have used leather for the material, given its BDSM connotations. Could still use some improvement in the execution.
Johnny Gargano now the new top heel in NXT
Johnny Gargano is being positioned as the new top heel in NXT after Adam Cole's departure from the brand. Cole is already expected to officially leave the company after this Friday, even though WWE still has time to make him a final offer. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: We suppose that only makes sense, as after this week's episode of NXT, the brand will need some time to develop new top heels from their younger stars. It looks like they won't give in and make Gargano a face despite positive reactions from the crowd.
