Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
Details on John Cena's return
John Cena returned at the end of Money in the Bank, and is scheduled for a number of WWE shows. Cena is considered a free agent in kayfabe, so he's allowed to appear on RAW and SmackDown as he will tomorrow. His filming for Argylle is apparently set for after SummerSlam, which allows him to make time for WWE. Everyone backstage knew before the show that Cena was coming back. (Source: Fightful Select)
We say: If everyone knew, then it looks like morale is high enough for people not to spill the secret. This should be a fun next few weeks.
More big returns expected
Aside from Cena's return and Goldberg's expected return, there are apparently more big comebacks scheduled for the next few weeks. Former RAW and SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch was also spotted backstage in recent weeks with husband Seth Rollins. It's being said that WWE is about to go all-out where they held back during the ThunderDome era. (Source: Andrew Zarian)
We say: Well, this feels like par for the course. We just don't agree with WWE holding back during the ThunderDome, because that's when they needed their best work the most.
Details on Jay White's appearance on Impact Wrestling
Jay White's appearance on Slammiversary this weekend was a closely guarded secret even among the roster and employees. The internal program sheets only described a "pull-apart brawl" closing the show. (Source: Fightful Select)
We say: The surprise certainly worked, but it seems it also backfired as they didn't have time to let the segment run properly. Maybe you should tell some other important people, too?
Big debut scheduled for RAW
Aside from scheduled comebacks, there will apparently be a big debut tomorrow on RAW. The debut is only being described as a "huge Texan," with no other details. (Source: Andrew Zarian)
We say: While the speculation is currently Raquel Gonzales (because Vince McMahon doesn't really care about ongoing NXT storylines) this could really be anyone, so sit back and be surprised.
