NXT in the UK (7/8/21): Solid Downtime

This week's NXT UK is another "off week," but that doesn't mean you should pass it up.

    Bringing it every week

I'll be honest—I don't have much to say about this week's episode of NXT UK other than the usual "you should go watch it because the wrestling's good." Nothing noteworthy happens outside of that, other than them setting up Amale vs. Meiko Satomura. I guess I've gotten spoiled by how mainline NXT is almost always featuring a huge storyline.

This week's main event of Trent Seven vs. Eddie Dennis is also pretty good. I generally dislike Eddie Dennis's wight-like look, but it's tough for me to disagree that he's a damn good wrestler (and personally more believable in the ring than Adam Cole). The UK scene loves showing off their Japanese inspirations, and I'm glad that Triple H and co. generally allow them to wrestle like that. Of course, it translates to main roster officials not really "getting" that style once they cross over, but while they're down in developmental, it makes for really good TV wrestling.

Anyway, go watch this week's episode if you're able to access it. It's only an hour of your time.

    NXT UK 7/8/21 Grade: B+

    Bits and pieces

    • Okay, so Teoman is going to be some sort of cult leader. I like the idea of him collecting people he's beaten, although I still don't really buy his wrestling.
    • Blair Davenport debuts in a quick match. Hope they can show us a longer match of hers soon with a higher-profile opponent.
    • Yes, Tyler Bate brought nunchucks to the ring.
