NXT in the UK (4/22/21): Hiking On A Moustache Mountain

This week on NXT UK, the show still falls back on its midcarders as no championship stories seem to be advancing. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though.

    They can't climb the Mountain

This week's main event sees Moustache Mountain go up against the Britwres veterans in Noam Dar and Sha Samuels. As always, great main event—can't really complain about the wrestling as NXT UK is easily the most consistent hour of programming on the WWE Network.

If there is one nit to pick, it's that I wouldn't have had Moustache Mountain easily overcome Dar and Samuels. That quickly makes them 2-0 starting from when Tyler Bate beat Noam Dar a couple of weeks ago on NXT UK Prelude, and this could've made for a great little TV rivalry to go for one last match. Now the wind's out of those sails.

The only way I could see this win making sense is if Moustache Mountain is being primed to go up against Pretty Deadly for the NXT UK Tag Team Championship—and even if they were, I think they could've still used an extra match before moving on to the titles.

Of course, that leaves Pretty Deadly pretty vacant as there doesn't seem to be any other face tag team who could go up against them right now. Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews have inserted themselves against Jinny and Joseph Corners, while Gallus is busy with The Hunt. But if A-Kid, Kay Lee Ray, and WALTER can wait, I'm sure the tag champs can wait, too.

    Bits and pieces

    • Last week's comment about this episode focusing on midcarders and not any championship stories still holds true for this week. You can skip it if you want to.
    • I don't know what Eddie Dennis wants to achieve in looking ripped at his body weight and height. He's good (I say this begrudgingly), but it's like watching a zombie wrestle.
    • Surprised at Dave Mastiff eating a loss to Sam Gradwell. I always thought Mastiff was a guy they kept protected against the midcard.
