The Grapevine (3/31/21): News On WrestleMania Night One, Murphy Update

    WrestleMania

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

WrestleMania night 1 may not have a kickoff match

There is talk among WWE creative to not have a kickoff match in the first night of WrestleMania, to save the first entrance in front of fans for the main show. The idea is that the first entrance back in front of fans is a big deal and should be saved for a main show match. However, this isn't set in stone yet. (Source: @WrestleVotes on Twitter)

We say: Doesn't feel like it's that big of a deal, unless the first match is a world title match. That first entrance will likely be someone in the midcard, anyway, so just throw on a kickoff match for old time's sake.

Murphy told to take down Instagram post explaining angle

Murphy was instructed to take down an Instagram post he made explaining why he was no longer with the Mysterio family. The former Cruiserweight Champion posted a while back saying Aalyah Mysterio had just used him for fame, and that the Mysterios were using him for their own purposes. He was last seen a few weeks ago on SmackDown in a match against Cesaro. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: Honestly, they should've just let him run with it. It's not like they were going to explain why he suddenly doesn't hang with the Mysterios, and he had the initiative to try and connect the dots for all of us. Why be petty about that if you're not going to follow through?
