#CafePuro: 5 Free DDT Wrestling Matches

DDT is one of puroresu's biggest comedy wrestling federations. They are known for their endless list of hilarious matches, which occur in the most random places. When you feature a wrestler from DDT, there's a high chance you'll be watching a funny and entertaining match.

Here are five free DDT wrestling matches in the most unusual places and situations.

    1. Sanshiro Takagi vs. Shunma Katsumata: Extreme Championship Match (Two Out of Three Falls in a Bath House)

Your eyes are not deceiving you. DDT Pro-Wrestling recently held a show in a bathhouse. DDT is known for its oddball match types, but this match takes the cake in terms of weird locations.

Mind you, this is the same company that has held matches at a water park, a camp site, and even had a wedding proposal take place in a parking lot. In this free show, DDT and NOAH President Sanshiro Takagi defended his DDT Extreme Championship title against Shunma Katsumata in a two out of three falls match... in a bathhouse.

One of the highlights was the wrestlers entering the bathhouse and carefully removing their shoes and socks and observing the venue's rules. Once they get inside the main area of the public bath, they went on with their match like the previous moment never happened.

Like we always remind newcomers to DDT, you always need to keep your suspension of disbelief when watching their shows because you literally don't know what will happen next.

    2. Maku Donaruto w/ Phoenix Haru vs. Kazuki Hirata

The reason I'm writing this article in the first place is that I enjoy the mindless insanity that happens in DDT matches, surprises and all.

Speaking of surprises, you can't talk about funny wrestling matches without talking about Maku Donaruto, a parody of Ronald McDonald.

Maku Donaruto is essentially a horny Ronald McDonald who will find ways to place his opponents in sexually suggestive wrestling holds for comedic effect. Kazuki Hirata does his best to avoid the suggestive moves but he ends up getting stuck in one of Maku Donaruto's holds.

Once again, I ask you to suspend your disbelief and let the mad clown run wild on the video. Maku Donaruto's wrestling style is an acquired taste, but it can still be entertaining.

    3. Chair vs. Chair Match

Last year, DDT's mascot, Pokotan, created the craziest match ever, even by DDT;s own standards. He made a Chair vs. Chair match. That's right. Chair vs. Chair.

How exactly do you make a Chair vs. Chair match work? Well, the likes of Danshoku Dino and Antonio Honda, among others, decided to turn the singles match into a multi-man tag where the chairs count as participants. The match starts off as your normal tag team match until the chairs get involved.

Throughout the bout, you'll see the chairs create pinfalls and even "attack" other wrestlers with the help of their partners. Out of the matches on this list, I think the Chair vs. Chair match might just be one of the most creative matches I've ever seen.

    4. Rojo (Street) Pro-Wrestling

DDT wrestlers can work anywhere—and we mean anywhere. I already showed you matches being held at water parks, camp sites, and other odd places like a freakin' bathhouse.

Another fun event they do is Rojo or Street Pro-Wrestling, in which the wrestlers go around the area... to promote local products.

The video above shows the DDT wrestlers performing in the Handmade in Japan event in Odaiba in Tokyo. Handmade in Japan is the country's largest event promoting handmade crafts, so don't be too shocked when you see Sanshiro Takagi promoting local products... in the middle of the match!

    5. Kota Ibushi vs. YOSHIHIKO (KO-D Openweight Title Match)

For the uninitiated, YOSHIHIKO is a blow-up doll that is considered an official wrestler in the DDT roster. If the name rings a bell, it's because YOSHIHIKO is the same doll that AEW Champion Kenny Omega once wrestled. Facts only.

Hell, YOSHIHIKO has won multiple matches with the help of black-suited wrestlers accompanying them for any required movement. You can even check its Pro Wrestling Fandom page for its accomplishments.

YOSHIHIKO has also faced numerous wrestlers in DDT, including one of NJPW's current pillars in the form of Kota Ibushi. The "Golden Star" of New Japan shows his creativity here by competing with a blow-up doll and making it look good. There's a popular saying in wrestling that a wrestler who can have a good match with a broomstick is an excellent wrestler and Kota Ibushi is the perfect example of someone who can make even inanimate objects look good in a match.

We're not just talking about any wrestling match either. The match between YOSHIHIKO and Ibushi was a title match. It looked ridiculous on paper, but this is one match you have to see to believe in order to realize how good Kota Ibushi really is.

That's just five of the many free (and laugh-out-loud-worthy) DDT matches you can find on their YouTube channel. What's your favorite DDT match? Share your thoughts below!
