Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
How Cody Rhodes got his surname back
Cody Rhodes is now able to use the Rhodes name after WWE recently canceled a trademark filing for it, but also due to Cody canceling his filings for some WCW trademarks. Cody will apparently abandon applying for trademarks for Slamboree and The Match Beyond. Cody has stated on a recent media call, however, that he will be using the Rhodes name in projects outside of wrestling, and will apparently continue to go by "The American Nightmare" Cody in AEW. We say: We're just glad to see that you can actually beat the WWE machine (even if it's because you have some sort of leverage). We hope that people can figure out a way to win on the Twitch front somehow.
Matt Jackson dealing with real ACL and MCL injury
The Young Bucks' Matt Jackson is apparently wrestling through MCL and ACL tears. He sustained it during the Falls Count Anywhere match with the Butcher and the Blade on the July 22 episode of Dynamite. He has apparently been rehabbing the injury to avoid surgery. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: Well, that doesn't seem very smart. We're pretty sure that the AEW tag team division wouldn't mind if the Bucks have to take some time off to recover.
