Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
The original plan for the AEW World Championship
It seems the original matchup for the AEW World Championship after Full Gear was Jon Moxley defending against Lance Archer. As was seen on this week's Dynamite, Kenny Omega will be challenging for the title next on the December 2 episode of the show. This follows promos cut during Full Gear itself by Jake Roberts and Archer saying that the latter was "waiting in the wings" to challenge next. It seems that they're fast-tracking the Omega matchup because the next PPV Revolution will be three months away on February 2021. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: It definitely makes sense to have Moxley/Omega on as fast as you can, but if you've already teased it with Lance Archer, it's a little unprofessional to suddenly shift there, isn't it? If anything, feuding with Archer would actually help sustain Moxley/Omega for longer. Guess they don't have the ideas to pull it off.
WWE interested in bringing No Way Jose back
WWE is apparently interested to get No Way Jose back. He had been wrestling as Levy Valnez on the independent scene since his release, and it's being speculated that a recent trademark filing by WWE may be related to his return. (Source: Fightful Select)
We say: While Jose is a better wrestler than he lets on, if he does make it back to the WWE we don't see him becoming anything more than another character in the 24/7 Championship picture or a career midcarder.
The Rascalz headed to WWE
Impact Wrestling stable the Rascalz are apparently headed to WWE. They are currently free agents and will be written off of Impact Wrestling TV next week. They reportedly have a "standing offer" with WWE that they have not signed yet, but will do so sooner than later. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: Fine additions to an already-loaded NXT.
