Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
Tucker back on SmackDown
Despite being drafted to RAW in the 2020 WWE Draft, Tucker is listed as a SmackDown star again on WWE.com. This follows his turn on former tag team partner Otis at Hell in a Cell this past Sunday.
We say: This should tell you all you need to know about how the decision to turn Tucker was made—the feud and the decision to have Miz win the briefcase was clearly planned after the Draft, because otherwise, why move him away?
Another possible COVID outbreak in the Performance Center
There is apparently a new spate of COVID cases in the WWE Performance Center. Attendees of a recent in-house live NXT event (used to track the progression of Performance Center trainees) were asked to quarantine after the show. Meanwhile, trainees who weren't at that show were not informed of this development and were asked to provide audience noise on this week's Halloween Havoc NXT episode. Some training sessions were also canceled because of this development. (Source: Fightful Select)
We say: This is going to be beating a dead horse yet again, but this is what happens when people are cavalier about the virus. It also doesn't help that there are people down in the Performance Center who really don't take the virus seriously, and that the county was investigating them for being a potential hotspot. Let's hope NXT doesn't get shut down because of this.
Edge vs. Randy Orton title match still planned for WrestleMania
It seems that Edge and Randy Orton are scheduled for a third bout for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 37. This plan had reportedly been on and off due to various factors, such as Edge's injury and Orton not having the title until his win at Hell in a Cell this past Sunday. Edge is rumored to return early next year. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: We're Edge fans but we're really not sure if this is such a great idea. Using WrestleMania to give up-and-coming talent the rub was honestly the best way to go about it, and it gave us a new star in Drew McIntyre. Maybe an Edge vs. McIntyre matchup would be better?
