Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
Plans for undrafted WWE Superstars
Superstars who weren't drafted this week will apparently be headed to RAW. Andrade and Mickie James are the notable undrafted free agents from both draft pools. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: This may very well be one of, if not the worst WWE Draft in recent memory. How is Andrade not taken over someone like Riddick Moss and Arturo Ruas? How are the Lucha House Party not drafted as a group when they haven't officially broken up? We still don't have any explanations, and no one seems to be bothering to try.
Lars Sullivan update
It's being said that Lars Sullivan "doesn't have a lot of supporters left backstage." This follows the new controversy that had popped up over the weekend for the returning Sullivan, in which he sent inappropriate messages to a yoga instructor he had hired. WWE is apparently aware of the controversy, but still has big plans for him—with a potential big feud versus Braun Strowman—as Vince McMahon is reportedly his biggest supporter. We say: Yep, this is exactly what we were afraid of when this was made public. Let's see how the company deals with this now; if he still gets a big spot, it won't look good on them. At the very least, Velveteen Dream seems to be punished onscreen, but that may be different for Lars.
Eva Marie returning to WWE
Eva Marie is returning to WWE soon after she was spotted in Orlando, where the company is taping shows at the Amway Arena. She had apparently signed a new deal with the company last September, although it's not clear yet if she will wrestle or simply be an onscreen personality—she had previously indicated that she had "unfinished business" with WWE. We say: We watch with bated breath. It is, at the very least, intriguing.
NXT UK attempts to sign Ben Carter
Breakout British free agent Ben Carter had apparently been contacted by WWE for NXT UK. The young standout, who impressed fans in outings on AEW Dynamite and AEW Dark, had apparently been working for free due to his visa status in the US. Signing him for NXT UK would allow him to work from his native United Kingdom for money, but the two parties had not reached a deal yet. (Source: Fightful Select)
We say: Go get that bag, Ben. Looking forward to seeing him make his way wherever he goes.
