Malaysia Pro Wrestling (MyPW) founder and head coach Shaukat officially introduced APAC Wrestling, a weekly pro-wrestling show for pro-wrestlers in the Asia Pacific region.
In a Facebook announcement video, Shaukat said it was time for wrestlers in the region to "move on to the next level." He described APAC Wrestling as a "bigger pro wrestling platform [that has] mainstream [and] commercialized weekly episodes," which would give "even more chances for pro wrestlers from this region to do what they do best in the ring and to even make a career out of pro wrestling."
There are no other details about APAC Wrestling other than it's starting in the middle of November 2020 and that it has its own studio and ring. (Also peep the logo made by graphic artist and former PWR videographer Matt Del Rosario.)
This isn't the first big wrestling project that Shaukat has announced this year. In June, he shared that he's leading the very first competitive pro wrestling games happening at the end of 2021. This came after Malaysia's Youth and Sports Ministry formally recognized pro wrestling as an official sport in the country.
While many of us still don't know when wrestling shows would fully come back in Asia (except for Vietnam Pro Wrestling and SETUP Thailand), the announcement of APAC Wrestling is still promising. We'll just have to wait and see who the featured talents will be from Malaysia and hopefully, we'll see talents from other countries once it's safer to travel again.
