Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
COVID-19 affects Clash of Champions card
The COVID-19 outbreak affecting WWE is the reason why the SmackDown Women's Championship and Women's Tag Team Championship matches on the Clash of Champions card were changed. No further details on who are specifically affected or whether they have the virus are available. Some wrestlers are reportedly frustrated over the changes and WWE's policies that left others open to the virus. (Source: Fightful Select)
We say: This is the part where we once again mention that it's important to take this virus seriously. Unfortunately, you have idiots like Flip Gordon and Austin Aries preferring to be "cool freethinkers" instead of taking precautions.
Angel Garza injured during RAW Tag Team Championship match
Angel Garza looked to have been injured during the RAW Tag Team Championship match at Clash of Champions. He performed a knee strike then went down, unable to get up, resulting in the referee calling for the X. The match then ended in controversial fashion with the referee counting to three despite Andrade kicking out. The injury seems to be a quad or hip injury, but no specific details are available yet. (Source: PWInsider)
Update: So far, it has been confirmed that the injury was to Garza's hip, and reports are saying that the injury may not be as bad as feared. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: There's more to say about how the injury and finish were handled in that match—there seemed to be a lot of miscommunication over the new finish. We hope Garza isn't hurt too bad, because other than the fact that nobody wants an injury at all, the RAW midcard and tag team division are already depleted as it is.
