Let Them In: "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt and The First WWE 2K20 Originals Pack Announced for WWE 2K20

YOWIE WOWIE! Imagine our surprise here at the Smark Henry offices when 2K announced the latest news about WWE 2K20. We will be getting "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt as a pre-order bonus! Good news, right? Well, part of the announcement also included the first entry of WWE 2K20 Originals which will be called WWE 2K20 Originals: Bump in the Night.

Let me be the first to tell you that I absolutely hate fantasy settings in my simulation games. With the move from THQ to 2K, the WWE video game series has slowly evolved from an arcade setting to a simulation one, hence, why I scratch my head at this inclusion. This feels like it actually belongs in the WWE Immortals game rather than the main series.

Either way, I'm a little glad that additional content is open for those who might want it. I've always been an advocate of having a lot of options so that everybody feels satisfied with their games. I'm hoping you can turn these fantasy features off if you feel they aren't necessary.

Let's run through the content so we know what we're getting, shall we?

    Story 2K Towers

2K Towers with full stories and unique versions of WWE Superstars:
    • “The Fiend”
    • “All Fed Up”
    • “Nowhere to Run”
    • “One of the Family”
    • “Nowhere to Hide”

    Horror-themed WWE Superstar Characters

    • “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt
    • “Demon King” Finn Bálor
    • “The Swampfather” Bray Wyatt
    • FrankenStrowman
    • “Wicked” Aleister Black
    • “Unleashed Apex Predator” Randy Orton
    • “Fed-Up” Sheamus
    • "Survivor" Mandy Rose
    • "Twisted" Nikki Cross
    • Two mystery versions of WWE Superstars

    • Wyatt Swamp Arena
    • Cemetery Brawl Arena
    • Horror-Themed Creation
And we're also getting a smorgasbord of the following:

    • New Create-a-Superstar parts
    • New Create-an-Arena parts
    • New weapons
    • New moves

That's a whole lot of content to digest and more content should always mean more fun. I don't want to be the guy that nags on every feature I dislike so I'll stop being negative. The truth is, apart from the silliness of things, I like the fact that we'll have extra arenas to use. I'm happy that the parts will be available for Create-A-Superstar so that means more flexibility. I'm ecstatic that there'll be new weapons to use. I am a little worried about the new moves, though.

I hope this doesn't become a WrestleMania: The Arcade Game type of product where everything is all exaggerated. I don't even want to see any sort of fantasy moves being used. It would work if this was WWE All Stars but this is the main line of games so I worry a bit here.

In other news, the reveal of the contents of the pack mentions "Twisted" Nikki Cross. This means we officially get regular Nikki Cross back on the roster after she missed being on WWE 2K19. I do wonder though if "Demon King" Finn Balor is different from "Demon" Finn Balor. The Demon has been missing for quite some time so he isn't part of the current product so I'm guessing it could be the same character. I hope I'm wrong.

All that said, the announcement does feel strongly tied to the release date, which is actually near Halloween. Plus, fans are obsessed with Bray's new character and theme so it might really be a solid reason for them to buy the game considering he just re-debuted recently.

The announcements are slowly pouring in and we'll be able to have a bigger picture of this year's roster and the new features soon as the game will launch in about two months time.

WWE 2K20 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 22, 2019!
