The Grapevine (7/12/19): The Executive Update

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
    • RAW and SmackDown Live Executive Directors Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will only be fully starting their new roles on Monday after Extreme Rules. Any previously set plans for SummerSlam next month may or will be changed as both men will be given a "clean slate" to set new directions. There are no real rumors on any top storylines heading into SummerSlam other than Drew McIntyre versus the Undertaker. (Source: @Wrestlevotes on Twitter, Wrestling Inc)
We say: So to set the record straight, anything you're seeing on WWE TV is still not completely Heyman and Bischoff's work. There's still room for the product to change, and we're interested to see how it does heading into SummerSlam.
    • Cedric Alexander was a late pitch to tag with Roman Reigns on this week's episode of RAW. The original idea was to have an extra portray the role of Gary "The GOAT" Garbutt, but Cedric was pitched to do it instead. This segment will apparently have a follow-up on RAW moving forward. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: Cedric's been wasting away on Main Event ever since coming to RAW in the Superstar Shakeup, so we're all for this. Use Cedric more. Find a way to use your deep roster even more.
    • Alexa Bliss is apparently suffering from a bad sinus infection. She has been missing TV events lately due to the illness, and Nikki Cross was added to the Extreme Rules title match against Bayley because of this. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: Get well soon, Alexa.
