PWR's Wrevolution X can be considered the WrestleMania of the brand—maybe even for the local wrestling scene. What better way to whet your appetite for local wrestling than to hype yourselves up for the upcoming event? PWR always delivers in terms of the matches and this card is going to be special.
If you missed the last show, you can read the official Smark Henry review for PWR Live: Destino to catch up on the most recent storylines and happenings.
As always, The Migz is here to bring you my fantasy booking picks and lightly predict what the aftermath of each match could possibly turn out. Be forewarned that these predictions do not necessarily contain any spoilers nor do they have any kind of insider information or trade secrets.
With that out of the way, let's do a match by match pick and move on to the predictions.
2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the PWR Championship Match: QUATRO vs. Ralph Imabayashi (c)
Although QUATRO did lose their most recent face-off (in a five-on-five tag team match at PWR Live: Destino), It was actually due to a myriad of factors affecting his teammates which led to him being a victim of the numbers game. Oddly enough, the same thing happened during their first face-off when Rederick Mahaba was a thorn on his side. Interestingly, Ralph's story arc has been that of pushing away the people closest to him so he might be all alone on this one.
Now, with these two competitors being pitted one-on-one in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match and no more expected nuisances, will QUATRO be able to capitalize and beat the PWR Champion twice? My educated guess is yes and it's just because they were so evenly matched before. However, the experience that QUATRO has amassed during the months after their initial outing could spell the end for the longest title reign in PWR.
Pick: QUATRO dethrones Ralph Imabayashi in a close contest to capture the PWR Championship.
3-Way Match for the PHX Championship: Chino Guinto vs. Vlad Sinnsyk vs. John Sebastian (c)
John Sebastian's reign (and previous defenses) isn't something I'm too fond of but it's always great seeing 3-way matches for the title because it allows the story to bleed into a multitude of branches. It might be a far-off callback and payoff but this whole angle actually started with Sebastian's apparent misuse of his GM powers.
He has constantly abused his authority which led to a PWR Tag Team Championship reign (that he and Crystal eventually lost to the Naughty Boys) and this current PHX Championship reign. What could have been a simple one-one-one title defense ended up becoming a multi-man match because of ring announcer Poch's appointment as an authority figure.
With the odds now stacked against the current champ, I'd have to say it's a toss-up between Vlad Sinnsyk and John Sebastian. It's hard to side with Chino Guinto knowing that he's booked into another multi-man match in the evening (more on that later), hence the hard part of choosing between the other two competitors. Sinnsyk has been booked strongly in recent months so that might be the silver lining, however, I'll trust my gut instinct and choose Sebastian with the expectation that a GM versus GM rivalry will happen down the line.
Pick: John Sebastian retains and evolves the story into an eventual GM versus GM rivalry (which I hope ends up in another Ubusan Ng Lahi Match)
Bantay Salakay Match for the PWR Tag Team Championships: The KakaiBros (Mh4rckie and Kh3ndr1ck) vs. The Naughty Boys (Trian Dela Torre and Evan Carleaux) vs. The YOLO Twins (Logan and Yohann Ollores) (c)
The Bantay Salakay Match sounds like something that would benefit the KakaiBros. The rules sound like your typical WarGames Match—minus the dual rings—with one member of each team being restrained while the other is released into the match every three minutes. Don't ask why, but mentioning the match type over and over again gives me a feeling that the two jejemons might walk away with the titles.
I wouldn't really discount The YOLO Twins nor The Naughty Boys although there's actually a logical explanation for my gut feeling. I believe that the two teams will be too busy with beating the hell out of each other that Mh4rck1e or Kh3ndrick will definitely steal the victory right from under their noses to earn their first taste of gold.
Pick: The KakaiBros steal the victory out of nowhere after one team hits the other with their respective finisher to grab their first PWR Tag Team Championship.
All Out Warla Match for the All Out War Championship: Dax Xaviera vs. Martivo (c)
I don't really know what an All Out Warla Match entails so I went straight to Martivo to ask about the match. In his own words, the All Out War Champion said, "The Revo-Nation can expect it to still be hardcore but more fun this time." He added, "Having a gay champion will definitely touch the untapped side of hardcore matches."
I'm intrigued and enthused about what it could bring to the table because he teased the usage of "feminine weapons" so that's something Dax Xaviera should look out for. The branding definitely fits Martivo's character and I'm sure he'd be able to surprise us just as he did when he defeated Dax in what was the quickest title win in PWR history.
All factors considered, I feel this will be a sure win for Martivo and I'll be okay with seeing more All Out Warla matches in the future.
Pick: Martivo retains in convincing fashion.
#1 Contendership Match for the All Out War Championship: Cali Nueva vs. Kapitan Tutan vs. Brad Cruz vs. Joey Bax vs. Rederick Mahaba vs. Bolt vs. Revo Ranger vs. TBA in an Over-The-Top-Rope Battle Royale
In what was supposed to be a side-story involving Cali Nueva and Kapitan Tutan, the Dick Pic Saga has evolved to include the likes of Rederick Mahaba, Joey Bax, Bolt,
I'm curious if the two shaded Batista stand-ins mean that there will be two surprise entrants or if they're just placeholder images. Otherwise, this is a choice that I had difficulty in making. My most logical choice would be Kapitan Tutan to close this chapter, however, wouldn't it be more fun to see Jaye Sera steal this victory out of nowhere and bring her angas on to face Martivo? Yeah, let's do that and pick Sera to win this thing.
Pick: Jaye Sera throws Kapitan Tutan out of the ring to win the right to challenge Martivo.
Jake De Leon vs. Mike Madrigal; if JDL loses, he leaves PWR
It would be interesting if Jake De Leon lost to Mike Madrigal, right? It would be a very shocking and surprising twist and it would surely turn a lot of heads, but I think the safest bet is that we'll be seeing JDL in PWR for a long time. I can definitely see Mr. Philippine Wrestling continuing this feud after Wrevolution X and raising the banner of the Philippine wrestling scene.
That doesn't mean that the victory will be clean though. I'm guessing since Bombay Suarez had an off-site appearance at the last show, then he could factor into this match in some way. Maybe he can assist or—what if he... turns on JDL? That said, I can see JDL getting the victory in a non-traditional sense.
Pick: JDL wins but Mike Madrigal beats him down.
MSG (Main Maxx and SANDATA w/ Mr. Sy) vs. Ken Warren and Chris Panzer
I'm torn because I want MSG to win. I've been supportive of the turn ever since it happened and I'm highly obsessed with the MSG theme, however, their win-loss record isn't something to be proud of. The odds are stacked against their favor because they've mostly had losses.
Think about it. Apart from their laughable record, they're facing the team of Chris Panzer, a former PWR Champion, and Ken Warren, a former PHX Champion. Two of PWR's finest will be teaming up to face MSG. Add the fact that the "Wa-nzer" (Yes, It's a name I made up) team are really itching to get their hands on Mr. Sy, and it smells like a win for this new partnership. Chalk up another L for the MSG boys because this seems like a massacre waiting to happen.
Pick: Ken Warren and Chris Panzer get the W and are also able to get their hands on Mr. Sy.
The Network (James "Idol" Martinez, Chino Guinto, and Alexander Belmonte III) vs. The Endgame (Jan Evander, The Apocalypse, and Super Vintendo); if The Network loses, AB3 joins The Endgame
The Endgame made their presence felt during the Path of Gold Match—eliminating a majority of the competitors in the match. They've also defeated two-thirds of the Network at PWR Live: Destino. Then you have the third man, Chino Guinto, who was double-booked for this year's Wrevolution X. Considering the factors I laid out, it isn't looking good for The Network.
It would be entertaining to see Alexander Belmonte III as a part of The Endgame. I can totally see branching stories involving the newly-reinstated James "Idol" Martinez and his quest to free AB3 from Jan Evander and his minions.
Pick: The Endgame defeats The Network as Chino Guinto fails to assist due to being unable to compete.
Jhemherlynn vs. Robynn
It looks like Robynn has embraced the dark side and is taking her rage out on Jhemherlynn. This will be the first matchup between the two and, I have to admit, it isn't looking too good for Jhemherlynn.
I'm a little scared because I still have visions of Robynn's table spot from her match with Dax Xaviera at PWR Path of Gold and an angry Robynn isn't someone that I'd like to confront. This is an uphill battle for Jhemherlhynn so I'm going with Robynn based on experience and viciousness.
Pick: Robynn picks up the decisive win.
Crystal vs. Alexis Lee
Crystal and SPW's Alexis Lee have a lot of history between them—even competing for the Queen of Asia Championship—however, this will be the first time that Lee will compete in a PWR ring and that might just be the deciding factor. The Queen of Philippine Wrestling has the home court advantage in this match and that is not to be taken lightly. A majority of PWR's foreign guests have mostly fallen to our local stars and while a brutal back-and-forth is to be expected, I'd have to side with Crystal on this one because, well, Pinoy pride.
Pick: Crystal defeats Alexis Lee.
