Smark Hen-XT (5/8/19): The System Has Been Shocked

For several weeks, Roderick Strong and Adam Cole have been bickering back and forth and teasing the break up of The Undisputed ERA. Although they've both appeared to be on the same page on several occasions, the tension has been lingering in the background seemingly leading to the eventual implosion.

This episode's ending might have proved to be the last straw for the both of them as they've argued again and they appeared to go their separate ways (at least for the end of the show), with Roddy being escorted by Bobby Fish along the entrance ramp and Cole exiting with Kyle O'Reilly not long after.

Adam Cole versus Roderick Strong isn't a new concept. In fact, it happened prior to Strong joining the ERA. In one of their one-on-one NXT outings, Strong bested Cole but only via disqualification when the faction interfered on Cole's behalf. Do note that this is just one of those instances. Looking back, this rivalry has had a long-standing history as far back as their indie scene days.

These two men have both been at each other's side and at each other's throats for a multitude of instances in their careers and it shows with their familiarity with each other. I know I've mentioned this before in a previous review, but if done right, this could possibly become a rivalry of Gargano/Ciampa proportions.

The fact of the matter is, when two big egos become a part of stable such as this, a clash is inevitable. What's left to figure out is who will side with who? Who's going to take the reins as de facto leader of the ERA? Will it be Cole or Strong? Or are the four now ready to go their separate ways and take on the NXT (and WWE) roster?

Regarding the actual match before the segment, the Matt Riddle win against Adam Cole served as a catalyst for the angle and did help keep Riddle's stock up but, to be honest, it could've been anybody in the match and there would have been little effect towards the ERA's story. Maybe they could've opted for someone who needed the rub or then again, this could be just a feud wherein Riddle gets caught in the middle.

I didn't enjoy last week's show completely and this week wasn't any different. The show was mostly filler with Riddick Moss and Raul Mendoza seemingly having a match out of nowhere. I did enjoy the Bianca Belair/Mia Yim bout but only because I'm a fan of Belair's antics. Maybe it's the rebuilding phase of NXT but they seem to be testing the waters now and trying to build up the other names from the deep roster because of the recent brand split and promotions.

    Grade: C

    Not-So-Full Sails

    • Wouldn't Bianca Belair using her hair as leverage hurt her more than it helps?
    • Mia Yim against Bianca Belair felt like a sluggish match.
    • The Forgotten Sons assaulted the NXT Tag Team Champions, the Viking Raiders at the WWE Performance Center. Are they the number one contenders now?
    • Riddick Moss is what would happen if Chris Masters grew his hair and took some character quirks from Simon Dean.
Is this the way you saw The Undisputed ERA splitting up? What do you think is next for both Roderick Strong and Adam Cole? Hit us up in the comments section below.
