The Grapevine (2/15/19): Pre-Elimination Chamber Edition

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    Seth Rollins is apparently hurting:

    • Seth Rollins is dealing with some back issues, which is why he hasn't wrestled since the RAW after Royal Rumble. WWE is resting Rollins up so he could be as close to 100% as possible for WrestleMania, especially with his position at the top of the card. He will not be wrestling at Elimination Chamber. (Source: WON)
We say: This is what the WWE's deep roster should be used for: to rest their bigger stars up, especially when they've been working hard for a long time. It's good that they're trying to not beat Seth down to the ground.
    • Mustafa Ali was supposed to get the booking Kofi Kingston did on SmackDown Live this week. The story of Kofi going for over an hour was supposed to be Ali's before the latter got pulled out of the Elimination Chamber match due to a recently-sustained concussion. It's being said that Kofi now has more momentum backstage due to his tremendous and highly-praised performance. (Source: @WrestleVotes on Twitter)
We say: That's the mark of someone really talented, when he can go at a moment's notice and dominate. Kofi Kingston is long overdue for a singles push, and we hope the brass considers it for this year at least.
    • The two women's divisions will reportedly be crossing over on both RAW and SmackDown. This is mainly due to the Women's Tag Team Championships being dual-branded, which logically calls for some of the women to appear on both shows. The plan is currently to have the tag team champions appear on both brands, but not all the time. (Source: @WrestleVotes on Twitter)
We say: Well, we suppose the tag division being merged does make sense. But we hope the two Women's Champions are still kept separate.
