    The Grapevine (12/21/18): Merry Finnmas

Good morning, and this is the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the week.

We have some news before we go on to the holidays:
    • Finn Balor is set for a huge push next year. It's reported to "go on for at least a little while," presumably through WrestleMania 35. The company's depth right now is a little depleted thanks to injuries. (Source: WON)
We say: That's good to hear, and it has been a long time coming. Hope he gets the Intercontinental Championship at the very least.
    • The NXT callups on the main roster's success will depend on Vince McMahon's reaction to them. Triple H is seeing this batch as a bit of a make-or-break for NXT, as if Vince doesn't like them then NXT may be considered a failure. Lars Sullivan, EC3, Heavy Machinery, Lacey Evans, and Nikki Cross have been on the callup list for some time now, but it's worth noting that former NXT Champion Aleister Black is not part of this batch despite previously being on the list. (Source: WON)
We say: If Triple H wanted to prove NXT to Vince, then why these guys? The only true stars in this batch are EC3 and Nikki Cross. The others still need more seasoning as they're not exactly looked at as tentpoles of developmental. If Triple H really wanted to impress Vince, he'd bring up Black, Johnny Gargano, and Tommaso Ciampa as well. That said, I feel like they're saving Black up for a better debut than what's in store for these six.
    • WWE is returning to Saudi Arabia next year. Their dates will be similar to this year's events, with shows happening on May and November 2019. The events will also likely be shown as Network specials again. (Source: WON)
We say: Well, guess we shouldn't be surprised. We do hope more people continue to protest being booked on these shows, though.

Let us know what you think of today's news in the comments!
