Local Pro Wrestling Scene Heats Up This Summer: PWR & MWF Announce May Shows

Too much pro wrestling? No such thing.

The summer of 2018 could very well turn out to be the hottest its been for the Philippine pro wrestling scene with the top two promotions, the Philippine Wrestling Revolution (PWR) and Manila Wrestling Federation (MWF), announcing the dates and venues for their respective May offerings.

First up: PWR's annual WrestleMania counterpart, Wrevolution X. The show will be happening on Sunday, May 20, at the iAcademy Auditorium in Salcedo Village, Makati.

The Sunday matinee is going to be jam-packed with high-stake matches. The complete card has yet to be officially announced, but expect it to feature the following confrontations:

Meanwhile, MWF will be bringing its theatrical brand of sports entertainment back to the University of the Philippines with its second official show for 2018, MWF 2: Maki-Wrestling, 'Wag Matakot.

This show will be happening on Sunday, May 27, at the Bahay Ng Alumni at UP Diliman. Again, we haven't heard the official match lineup, but expect the following threads from MWF 1: Kasaysayan to be picked up.

    • Who is the mysterious White Lady who spooked out Fabio Makisig after he tried to steal the Libro ng Liwanag, and what sort of connection does she have to the once-again-blinded Brother Jomar Liwanag and the dearly-departed Moises Liwanag?
    • After choking out MWF Senior Analyst Tarek El Tayech and leaving Frankie Thurteen TKO'd with his MMA-styled offense, "Danger" Rex Lawin and Coach Gus Queens are on a roll. Who will step up to derail the power-mad duo?
    • Robin Sane was left battered and bruised by an enraged Ho Ho Lun after their main event tag team loss, only for Mr. Lucha to defend and carry out his unconscious comrade. What's next in their ongoing love-hate relationship?
    • Aldrin Richards & Hanzhello Shilva were impressive in their tag team win against Ashura and Kyle Sison; is their chemistry going to take them to higher ground?
    • Gigz Stryker and RG may have saved entertainer Maria Ozawa from a pair of thugs, and starred in their own action short film. What's next for local pro wrestling's unlikely tandem of talino and diskarte?
    • With all the hints being dropped about the imminent introduction of a MWF Championship, do you think it will finally be unveiled at this show?

We'll be sure to keep all of you updated with official announcements as they come!

What matches are you looking forward to this May, Revo-Nation and mga Kapa-FED? How do you plan to spread out your budget with all these wrestling shows popping up left and right? And do you think Art of War Wrestling is going to be throwing their hat into the arena after mostly staying quiet after their debut show?

Let us know in the comments, and we'll see you at 2018's #SummerOfWrestling!

Disclosure: Smark Henry is independently owned and managed by a group of Filipino pro wrestling fans, but includes members affiliated with the Philippine Wrestling Revolution.
