The Grapevine (3/24/17): World Wrestling Entertainment of Honor

Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.

Yes, it's true, there are buyout talks in place:

    • There have been some talks on WWE planning some sort of buyout of Ring of Honor. The moves by WWE have been dated to as far back as August of last year, in an attempt to buy the ROH tape library and possibly move the Ring of Honor TV show to the WWE Network. It's speculated that they want the library more than anything, considering a lot of current WWE stars from both the main roster and NXT are from ROH, but as of right now there's no real deal on the table being discussed. ROH is also not the only company WWE wants to buy out, as they've also sent feelers out to other unnamed indie promotions. (Source: WON)

We say: While we're not sure buying ROH out is a good idea for the business, what they should do is what they're currently doing with companies like EVOLVE, ICW, and PROGRESS, which is to pump some money and exposure for them to do better but not completely buy them out. We hear PWR could use some of that help...

    • Mauro Ranallo is safe and sound. The SmackDown Live commentator, who has missed two episodes so far, may be dealing with a bout of depression as he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He has not appeared on the show and has also stopped interacting on social media since then, but it's apparently not the first time this has happened as he once had to miss out on an Invicta event to deal with his mental health. Friends close to him have confirmed that he is resting at home. (Source: WON)

We say: We are definitely relieved to hear this, and we hope Mauro feels better soon. Also, we're jealous of the fact that he can take two mental health weeks off.

Let us know what you think of today's news in the comments!
