Good morning, and this is your daily Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the evening.
What did we just watch out there with Emmalina?
What did we just watch out there with Emmalina?
- The reported reason why Emmalina is being nixed so quick is because Emma couldn't pull off the vision for the character during rehearsals. Apparently, the character was supposed to be a throwback to the Divas of old, but Emma couldn't do it, which is why she's going back to her previous character. (Source: Pro Wrestling Sheet)
We say: It's a good move, in hindsight, for three reasons: why fix something that wasn't broken in Emma's cool girl character, why throw back to an anachronistic gimmick way too soon in the middle of a Women's Revolution, and three, why not just give it to someone like Eva Marie, who needs a character more to cover up her in-ring weaknesses? Either way, it's the first bit of good reactive booking RAW's exhibited this year; better to put the kibosh on something and get the bad taste out of our mouths over the long term. Apparently, the best way to not do something you don't want to do is to fail at it.
- Tony Nese has been cleared to compete from injury. He worked a Main Event match with Drew Gulak. Nese didn't compete in the Fatal 5-Way match on last week's 205 Live due to a foot injury, but he's apparently okay now. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: Well, that's good. That was quick, but at least his momentum won't be cut short (theoretically).
