WWE RAW Results (1/18/16): The Rumble Before the Rumble

This week, everybody made their intentions perfectly clear for this Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Roman Reigns took on all comers until he went down, Vince McMahon put the final nail in the coffin for Roman's insurmountable odds at the Rumble, and Brock Lesnar made his presence felt.

Roman Reigns Calls Brock Lesnar Out

The WWE World Heavyweight Champion opened RAW and called Brock Lesnar out after the events of last week's main event.

Instead, Chris Jericho came out to tell Roman Reigns that the former has invited the latter and Brock Lesnar to be the guests of the Highlight Reel later on in the night. Jericho wants the "top three contenders" of the 2016 Royal Rumble to be on the Highlight Reel.

    Enter the League of Nations.

The League of Nations argue that they are going to win the Royal Rumble match. Each member of the League gets mic time to state his case, save for King Barrett.

Rusev talks about having to fight and scrap while growing up in Bulgaria, and why that will make him win this year's Royal Rumble match. Jericho reminds Rusev that Reigns eliminated Rusev to win last year's Royal Rumble match. The taunting between Jericho, Reigns, and Rusev led to a match between the Champion and the Bulgarian Brute, with Y2J declaring himself as the Special Guest Referee to even out the odds against the League of Nations.

After the match between Roman and Rusev, Stephanie McMahon confronted Chris Jericho, scolding Y2J for making "business decisions" on his own in the ring including the impromptu match between Reigns and Rusev, and the Reigns and Lesnar guestings on the Highlight Reel.

Later in the night, Stephanie talked to King Barrett, Sheamus, and Alberto Del Rio, who were still fuming backstage over Jericho having ejected them from the Reigns-Rusev match earlier. She built each man up and emphasized how they could win this year's Royal Rumble by reminding them of their individual accomplishments. She then taunted them, saying that Jericho punked them out. The League of Nations disagreed, prompting Stephanie to urge them to prove that they weren't scared of Jericho.

In the Highlight Reel to close out the show, Chris Jericho and Paul Heyman exchanged verbal barbs as Jericho continued to tell anyone who would listen that he could very well win this year's Royal Rumble Match. Brock Lesnar finally appeared, but before he could do anything, Roman Reigns interrupted his entrance. Lesnar and Reigns brawled in the ring with Reigns standing tall, until the League of Nations came out to assault Roman. Lesnar got back up and dispatched of the League of Nations, but Roman Reigns also got back up to put Lesnar down a second time. The Wyatt Family then appeared and laid waste to both Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, standing tall to close this week's RAW.

    Who Will Be #1?

Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon staged the drawing of the #1 entrant in the 2016 Royal Rumble Match.

After some ceremonial suspense, the #1 entrant is... Roman Reigns!

In the interest of fairness, Vince and Steph decided to draw another ball to see if another name will come out.

And the NEW #1 entrant is... Roman Reigns!

But to make sure that the drawing was indeed fair, the McMahons drew a third time and the name of the #1 entrant is... Roman Reigns!

Roman Reigns is indeed the #1 entrant in the 2016 Royal Rumble.

It's Official: Charlotte Defends the Divas Championship Against Becky Lynch at the Royal Rumble!

Right after Becky Lynch defeated Tamina, she addressed Charlotte and Ric Flair. Becky challenged Charlotte for the Divas Championship at the Royal Rumble. Ric Flair and Charlotte initially denied the challenge, saying that Becky has already had her shot.

Becky countered by saying that Flair, being a two-time Hall of Famer, never backed down from a challenge. She openly wondered how all the other Hall of Famers would react if Charlotte continued being a coward, implying that Flair himself had become a coward in his old age.

Enraged, Ric Flair would answer Becky Lynch, accepting the challenge on Charlotte's behalf, much to Charlotte's shock and anger.

In other championship news, both the United States and Tag Team Championships are on the line this Sunday at the Royal Rumble, as well. Alberto Del Rio and Kalisto are getting their rubber match for the U.S. Championship, while the Usos get to challenge the New Day a third time for the Tag Team Championships this Sunday.

Reunited and It Feels So... Good?

Natalya made her return to RAW this week to face Brie Bella in a singles match. But since Brie Bella had a friend in Alicia Fox at ringside, Nattie brought out her own friend in... Paige.

Paige remained supportive towards Nattie throughout the match as the latter made quick work of Brie Bella, locking in the Sharpshooter to win the match after just a few minutes.
