The Grapevine (1/18/16): How They Snagged Styles

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the Grapevine! This is our daily post rounding up all the interesting rumors from the wild, wild world of pro wrestling that you may have missed over the weekend.

The story of how WWE possibly landed AJ Styles is an interesting one:

    • Despite being originally booked as a headliner for ROH and NJPW this year, WWE apparently offered AJ Styles a deal that would blow anyone away. ROH was originally going to offer him a six-figure deal, but WWE managed to top that offer—with what, though, is not confirmed yet. Styles, who has previously stated that he is in search for financial stability especially as his career is starting to wind down, hasn't actually officially signed with the company yet as he needs to go through the process, but WWE has already started hyping him up. ROH, who managed to sign the Young Bucks, removed AJ from all his originally-scheduled appearances with the company. (Source: PWTorch)

We say: So we guess it turns out that the Million Dollar Man gimmick is really Vince McMahon projecting himself. We can't fault AJ for looking for some much-deserved stability in his life, especially in a career that's known to leave people penniless, but we just hope that the company treats him right. Actually, we wish the company treats everyone right, whether it's in the way they handle employees' welfare or the way they script them on TV. The only question left now is what he will do.

    • Deonna Purazzo has not signed with NXT. There were rumors that she was signed, especially after appearing so much for NXT, but she has also appeared for TNA and ROH this past month. (Source: WrestlingInc)

We say: The way NXT operates never ceases to amaze us. This is what can happen if you don't be selfish about the people you have work for you.

We say: Telling employees to deny injury rumors is not going to make things safer, WWE. Man up and deal with your growing problem.

What do you think? Would you wrestle in WWE if they offered a lot of money, despite the company's reputation of handling talents? Should wrestlers stop denying injuries? Let us know what you think in the comments!
