Impact Wrestling (1/5/16): New Home, New Timeslot, New Champion

It's a fresh start for TNA in 2016, with a new home on Pop TV and a new schedule, now airing Tuesday nights. Plus, on their first episode back, a new TNA World Champion is crowned.

TNA World Title Series Final: Hardy vs. EC3

The TNA World Title Series came to a head on Tuesday with the Final Four participants. Dixie Carter opened the show to thank the fans and wish the four wrestlers luck. Ethan Carter III interrupted her, complaining again about Dixie's unfair treatment of him back when he was champion.

Matt Hardy begged to differ and vowed to regain the TNA World Title. Out of nowhere, Eric Young attacked Matt, then EY and EC3 ganged up on him until Bobby Lashley made the save!

In the semi-finals, EC3 stole a victory against Bobby Lashley via a roll-up with a handful of tights, while Matt Hardy survived a fight versus Eric Young.

To quote a Coldplay song, "We're going back to the start." The two men involved in the reason behind the TNA World Title's vacancy eventually advanced to the finals of the 32-person TNA World Title Series.

At the main event, Jeff Hardy convinced Tyrus to have EC3 and Matt battle each other on their own! Back and forth action by the two finalists, followed by near-fall after near-fall. EC3 blocked Matt's Super Twist of Fate on the top turnbuckle and hit a Super One Percenter off the top for the victory!

And the new TNA World Champion: Ethan Carter III!

    Beer Money is back!

Bobby Roode issued an open challenge for his King of the Mountain Championship, and Bram responded to the call. In the final moments, Bram went for a Brighter Side of Suffering, but Roode countered with the Roode Bomb for the victory!

Crazy Eric Young then attacked Roode out of the blue, then Bram joined in on the assault. Someone from the crowd saved Roode, and it was... James Storm!

After taking care of EY and Bram, Storm explained that he planned to return to TNA when he found out that he was given the "Biggest Disappointment Award" for the World Title Series!

Storm realized he and Roode drank a lot of beer together and made lots of money together. So, why not come back to bring back BEER... MONEY!

Later on the show, Storm challenged Bram and Eric Young to a match against Beer Money this Friday at One Night Only: Live!

    Who is TNA's "Miracle"?

The vignettes aired for weeks, and on Tuesday, he was finally revealed: Mike Bennett! He was accompanied by the First Lady of Pro Wrestling, Maria. Bennett promised to save TNA and pro wrestling, and dared to say that the true "miracle" would be him holding the TNA World Title above his head.

    Kurt Angle's "Farewell Tour" begins

Kurt Angle chose Drew Galloway to be his opponent on next week's Impact Wrestling as part of his "farewell tour." Drew then headed out to say that it would be an honor.

But Jessie Godderz and Eli Drake mocked Angle and Galloway, and followed it up with a brawl in the ring! In the end, it was Angle and Galloway standing tall!

Later that night, backstage, TNA World Tag Team Champion The Wolves (Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards) challenged Angle and Drew in a dream tag team match on Friday's PPV. Jessie and Eli Drake then walked up to "punch a ticket" for themselves in the match!

    Knockouts knocked out

The Dollhouse (sans Taryn Terrell) faced The Beautiful People (sans a pregnant Angelina) and Gail Kim in a six-Knockouts tag match. It was Gail who brought home the victory, when she countered Jade's powerbomb attempt with a body scissors roll-up.

After the match, The Dollhouse attacked their opponents until a returning Awesome Kong hit the ring. But she attacked Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky, and Gail Kim, then celebrated alongside The Dollhouse!

    Quick Results:

    1. TNA World Title Series - Semi-final Match: Ethan Carter III (w/ Tyrus) defeated Bobby Lashley via a roll-up
