The Grapevine (6/16/22): What We Know About Vince McMahon's WWE Investigation, Sasha Banks Reportedly Released

    Vince McMahon

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

What we know about the WWE investigation involving Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon is currently being investigated by the WWE Board of Directors for an alleged $3 million settlement involving a former WWE employee with whom he allegedly had a secret sexual affair. The now-former employee was hired back in 2019, and an anonymous source informed the Board that McMahon had a secret affair with them, which also involved WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis.

The former employee had not made any harassment claims or allegations against McMahon or Laurinaitis, as the relationship was consensual, and there was no money offered upon her departure.

The investigation has also apparently discovered other nondisclosure agreements made with other former female WWE employees. The company is fully cooperating with the board inquiry. (Source: Wall Street Journal)

We say: This is very huge, and could very well lead to the end of Vince McMahon in WWE, especially now that the Board of Directors is involved. For anyone wishing for his downfall to at least get a better product, this might be the answer you're looking for.

    Sasha Banks reportedly released

Sasha Banks has reportedly been released from WWE. However, there is no word yet on whether this is true, or if it was WWE's decision or hers. This follows the walkout that she and tag team partner Naomi staged a few weeks ago following a creative decision they disputed before an episode of RAW. (Source: Raj Giri)

We say: She'll be all right, and this might be great for her anyway. She'll be a huge get for any company (read: AEW) if she decides to keep wrestling, and the chances are high that she still will.
