The Grapevine (2/28/22): Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee Listed For WrestleMania, WWE Has No Plans For Elias and Veer

    Vince McMahon

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

Vince McMahon set to have WrestleMania match

Vince McMahon is reportedly set to have a match at WrestleMania against SmackDown color commentator Pat McAfee. The story will kick off on McMahon's guesting on McAfee's radio show, and the match will reportedly involve someone else wrestling on behalf of the WWE chairman, most likely Austin Theory, who has been involved in angles with McMahon over the past few months. We say: Not sure why Vince thought we all wanted to see him wrestle again, but here we are, and we wonder if it's really fooling anyone.

WWE has no plans for Elias and Veer Mahaan

WWE Creative currently has no plans for Elias, after looking like he was in for a reboot, as well as Veer Mahaan, who is getting vignettes every week on RAW. Elias was going to get a makeover but the new character had been dropped. Meanwhile, Mahaan has vignettes playing every week but there's no clear and concrete plan on when he is debuting, which will likely not be in time for WrestleMania. We say: Not that Elias and Veer are needle-movers for the company by any means, but it's things like this and Cesaro not getting the time he deserves that tell you that WWE is pretty much dying on the inside. Something needs to change, and fast.
