The Grapevine (2/18/22): Cody Rhodes Still Not Signed To WWE, Plans For Elimination Chamber

    Cody Rhodes

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

Cody Rhodes still not signed to WWE

Despite rumors strongly suggesting that he will be moving to WWE as soon as next week, Cody Rhodes has reportedly yet to sign a WWE contract. That means he can still re-sign with AEW. In related news, his reality TV show Rhodes to the Top has not yet been canceled, which means it may still continue even though he signs with WWE, as AEW does not have a hand in its production. We say: Seems like Cody can go either way here, but if Tony Khan wanted to get him on he would've likely conceded to whatever his demands were. Might be safe to assume that at the very least, he won't be back in AEW anytime soon.

WWE has "twists and turns" planned for Elimination Chamber

WWE apparently has some twists planned for the Elimination Chamber premium live event this Saturday. There's no word yet on what those could be exactly, but it's being said that there is a push backstage to do a title vs. title match with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)

We say: It will be tough to imagine Brock getting eliminated from the Elimination Chamber match, but it's not impossible. We still don't suggest doing a title unification at WrestleMania, as it seems to be short-term gratification that's not sustainable in the long-term.
