Finisher Friday (1/28/22): Oozora Subaru x Great O-Khan Sheep Killer!

Welcome to another edition of #FinisherFriday! This is Wreddit_Regal bringing you a continuation of our favorite Japanese zombie wrestler's "special" move.

Last week, we described Great O-Khan as this monstrous dude who lays waste to anyone he encounters inside the squared circle. But this week, let's take a look into one of his hobbies: being an avid Hololive supporter.

Well, I don't know much about Hololive, besides it being a sort of entertainment agency for virtual characters (VTubers), but I'm pretty glad to know that O-Khan has found a pastime that doesn't include sending people off black and blue. You can find him occasionally giving messages to VTuber idols online, like in the video below:

He has seemingly taken a liking, in particular, to a VTuber named Oozora Subaru (who is an MMA manager based on her Hololive profile):

He likes the character so much that when Subaru pulled off an original wrestling maneuver to force one of her co-VTubers to apologize...

...O-Khan put the move into use at the 2021 New Japan Cup, against Tomoaki Honma:

O-Khan has since explained how the move came about on an NJPW interview:

Please explain how the Ozora Subaru-style Sheep Killer came about.

O-Khan: A fine question! This may get in depth. We enjoy anime and V-Tubers, but we didn’t want to bring that into pro-wrestling.

    –You didn’t?

O-Khan: Exactly. We didn’t name other moves after anime titles or characters, but Ozora Subaru is a different matter. It’s… special.

O-Khan: The name comes from ‘Hololive’.  This character, the princess Ozora Subaru used a move to kill a sheep in order to make a winter cloak.

–What kind of move was it?

O-Khan: It’s easier to see the video, but it was a move that impressed even a MMA expert such as us. Something we have not seen or heard of in professional wrestling but that we knew would go down in history if it were used. At first it was difficult to adapt to our matches, but when combined with our strategy to target the face it became something of our own.

    –I see.

O-Khan: There is no escape from it. It targets the lower back, the neck and the face, meaning it cam come after a backbreaker, Iron Claw, or TTD. Ozora Subaru invented it to kill a sheep, and thus the name came to be.

What I find interesting is that after O-Khan debuted the move, he tweaked it to make it deal more damage. Instead of simply pulling the opponent's head towards him, he now has his right hand pushing on the opponent's chin while pulling the neck using his other arm.

You can either call it an extreme version of the badass neck cracking you sometimes see people do:

Or a chinlock/neck crank in MMA and Brazilian jiu-jitsu circles:

Demian Maia cranked that neck so hard, he made Rick Story bleed from his nose

Using my Regal Rating, I would give this move a:

8/10 for aesthetics. Subaru's original rendition leans more on the cuter side. O-Khan fixes that using his genetics and sheer arm power.

9/10 for damage. As I have discussed in previous iterations of this series, the neck crank is a fairly dangerous submission to put opponents into, as putting constant pressure on the neck as you flex or extend them in one direction can greatly strain the musculature of the neck and can cause damage to the cervical vertebrae itself.

And there you have it chaps, my short review of Great O-Khan's "Oozora Subaru Sheep Killer"! Do you think another Hololive x NJPW collaboration is on the way, wrestling-wise? Let us know in the comment section below!
