The Grapevine (8/27/21): More Details On Brock Lesnar's New WWE Deal, USA Network Has Issues With Big Names On SmackDown

    Brock Lesnar

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

More details on Brock Lesnar's SummerSlam appearance

Brock Lesnar's new deal was reportedly put together at the last minute. It looked like Lesnar did not get advance notice of his SummerSlam appearance, as he's not considered to be in peak shape. The new deal was apparently due to a number of reasons, which include John Cena leaving WWE again, CM Punk's AEW debut, and FOX's pressure. Lesnar is officially a babyface on the brand. (Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter)

We say: Well then, if you put money on Lesnar appearing because of CM Punk, then there you have it. This should be a fun autumn for SmackDown.

NBC and USA Network not happy about big names on SmackDown

Speaking of Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch moving to SmackDown, NBC and USA Network are said to be concerned about RAW not having as stacked a roster. As mentioned previously, these moves were considered last-minute due to certain circumstances. (Source: Andrew Zarian)

We say: We'd be concerned too if we were USA, as RAW hasn't exactly been the best so far, especially with a lame-duck Goldberg being the only big legend to come out for the brand. The Draft is coming in October, so there's enough time for WWE to rebalance the rosters.
