Finisher Friday (8/20/21): The Swan Makes It All Fade To Black

Welcome to another edition of #FinisherFriday! This is Wreddit_Regal giving you a quick finisher review of one of my favorite wrestlers in the British scene.

Cara Noir's reputation as the "Black Swan" of British wrestling isn't just for show. He carries the story of a disgraced ballet dancer slowly finding his purpose and dancing ground in the squared circle, all while leaving a trail of unconscious bodies in his path to the summit. Even if you are not a fan of the theatre arts, his coming out to the sound of Tchaikovsky's renowned work would leave you astonished and wondering if ballet really mixes well with professional wrestling:

His arsenal is can be described as the physical manifestation of emotion in theatre, wherein you can feel what he is trying to convey with every move that he does (as opposed to being a plain spot monkey):

His hangman's neckbreaker rivals the Rude Awakening in terms of execution. Sorry, Rick

Not even Pentagon Jr. performs the package piledriver with such ferocity

Notice how Cara Noir slowly does the Sasuke Special, to emphasize the beauty of a body contorting

He names this move "Swanwoo," a direct pun the to this move's original name (John Woo)

    Beat that, Daniel Bryan

His finisher is a standard rear-naked choke, which shares the same name as his moniker:

Some of you might ask, "Is there anything special with his choke, when other people like Samoa Joe and Shayna Bazsler practically do it the same way?"

My answer to that is a big YES! Notice how Cara Noir cranks and squeezes his opponent's head with his right arm. This act forces the opponent's windpipe against the bones of his left forearm. Unlike Joe and Shayna whose focus is to make the opponent go night-night as fast as possible, Noir aims to make the opponent's sleeping process as painful as possible.

Using my Regal Rating, I would give this move a:

10/10 for aesthetics. It's the perfect ending to his goosebump-inducing performance in the ring: as he locks the hold, the opponent summons one last breath of resistance, ultimately leading to his consciousness fading to black at the hands of the Black Swan.

10/10 for damage. Brain damage resulting from a prolonged lack of oxygenation is no laughing matter. Also, if you think Cara Noir's finisher isn't badass enough, you haven't seen the version where he literally gives the opponent a death sentence by hanging in the corner of the ring:

And that's it chaps, my short review of Cara Noir's Black Swan! Where do you think he's bound to go or reach, with the high level of acclaim he has reached in such a short amount of time? Let us know in the comment section below!
