The Grapevine (7/12/21): Brock Lesnar Not Appearing At SummerSlam, Daniel Bryan Pulled From WWE Projects, Big Plans For Roderick Strong

    Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

Brock Lesnar unlikely to show up at SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar is reportedly not being figured in plans to return at SummerSlam. While WWE had been trying to bring him back, talks fell through. The company will continue trying to bring him in as they return to live touring, and the chances are high that he returns to WWE. (Source: Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast c/o WrestlingNews.co)

We say: If this is true and not a red herring, looks like they'll have to do something huge for the RAW side of the card, and at this point we're not exactly sure what that could be if it's not Lashley vs. Brock.

Daniel Bryan pulled from all WWE projects

Daniel Bryan has been pulled from WWE projects such as WWE 2K22, as a result of not having signed a new deal. It seems that barring the event that there is a secret deal in place, Bryan is not returning to the company anytime soon. There is also no solid speculation on his next move. We say: The chances of him showing up somewhere else are getting higher and higher, and at this point we kind of want to see it happen just to see the entire wrestling world shaken up.

    Big plans for Roderick Strong

Roderick Strong signed to a new NXT deal, and he will be figuring in big plans for the brand. The brand is set to highlight the cruiserweight division heavily moving forward, which is evident in the current big-name feud between Strong and champion KUSHIDA. Strong returned to NXT TV recently as part of Diamond Mine with Tyler Rust, puroresu veteran Hideki Suzuki, and manager Malcolm Bivens. (Source: Fightful Select)

We say: We're all for this! Roddy has been a true diamond in the rough (pun definitely intended) and we're all for anything that puts over the cruiserweight division as a big deal.
