The Grapevine (4/30/21): W. Morrissey's Status With Impact, Adam Pearce Gets New WWE Role, Drake Wuertz Suspended Earlier This Year

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    W. Morrissey's contract status with Impact Wrestling

    W. Morrissey, the wrestler formerly known as Big Cass, has been signed to a deal with Impact Wrestling. It's being reported that he will be around for the "foreseeable future" and is motivated and easy to work with backstage. (Source: Fightful Select)

We say: We're really happy for him, and we hope this is the beginning of a career renaissance for the man.

Adam Pearce gets new role in WWE

Adam Pearce has been promoted to Director of Live Events in WWE as the company gears up to return to touring. He takes over this role from Michael Hayes. Jason Jordan has also been promoted to Lead Executive Producer for RAW and SmackDown. (Source: PWInsider)

We say: We'll probably not see the immediate effects of this as this will only be for house shows.

Drake Wuertz reportedly suspended earlier this year

Controversial WWE referee Drake Wuertz had reportedly been suspended earlier this year, likely due to an expose by wrestling journalist David Bixenspan about Wuertz's right-leaning postings on social media site Parler. Wuertz's duties in WWE had been reduced, but he has not been fired. (Source: Fightful Select)

We say: The longer WWE keeps him around, the more risk they're taking on by tempting further controversy. If we were WWE, we'd risk the wrongful termination lawsuit and just let him go before he does any further damage to the company's already embattled reputation.
