The Grapevine (3/10/21): Kenny Omega Upset Over AEW Revolution Ending, Spoiler On William Regal's Big NXT Announcements

    Kenny Omega on AEW Revolution

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

Kenny Omega upset over Revolution finale spot

Kenny Omega is reported to be upset at the disappointing explosion spot at the end of AEW Revolution. It is still unknown how the explosion really was supposed to go, as there are no other details. AEW has sent out copyright strikes on GIFs and clips on the internet of the spot itself, in contradiction of an earlier proclamation by Tony Khan stating that they would not take down fan-made GIFs and videos. (Source: Wrestling Inc, Wrestling Observer Live)

We say: If Kenny didn't know that it was going down like that, how was it supposed to go down, then? Did they not run a tech rehearsal? It doesn't feel like it wasn't supposed to happen like that, because it's not a question of whether anything malfunctioned. Going by what we know now, it feels like amateur hour over at AEW, and going after dunks of the spot makes them look even worse. Tony Khan himself has already started explaining the spot in kayfabe, so what was the point of trying to hide it? Own up to it, because the internet is forever.

    News on big NXT announcements

The new NXT Women's Tag Team Championships and the recently reported two-night NXT Takeover are set to be NXT General Manager William Regal's big announcements this week. The first night of Takeover will be on Thursday, April 8 on the USA Network, while the second night will be on Friday, April 9, released on Peacock and the WWE Network. The rumored move of NXT to Tuesdays will apparently come separately. (Source: Justin Barrasso)

We say: Sounds good. Still not sold on the idea of exclusive Women's Tag Team Championships on NXT, but the division is deep enough to sustain it.
