This week on 205 Live, we get the most interesting storyline development to happen in months, though it feels like everyone is turning heel.
Maybe Mansoor really is just a dick
On the first match of the show, we have another tag team bout that feels like your typical 205 Live tag match in 2021: it features the Bollywood Boyz vs. Mansoor and Curt Stallion, two singles cruiserweights paired up against the evil tag team. Ever-Rise is doing commentary at ringside. It feels all very run-of-the-mill, until...
...we get to what's supposed to be the comeback for the face team, except Mansoor doesn't want to tag in Curt Stallion. This issue stems from last week, when the two had a singles match after Stallion said he could probably break Mansoor's ridiculous streak, but failed.
I don't know why Mansoor's being a dick here. He won the match last week, so his precious little streak is more than safe. Stallion's not trying to undermine him or anything, taking the loss in stride, because he's actually lost matches in his WWE career. So what gives?
Maybe the answer really is Mansoor is just a dick. Whatever the case may be, this is easily the most interesting thing to happen on 205 Live in months, and that's because they haven't really been pushing Jake Atlas. Or maybe he won't turn heel completely. Either way, things are so bad on the show that I'm eating this little wrinkle up, mostly because the Mansoor/Stallion rematch should be good.
Speaking of singles matches that were good, August Grey also took on Ariya Daivari, which is only a step below Ariya Daivari vs. Jake Atlas. It was better than it had any right to be, but the match strangely ended in Grey getting the win after putting his foot up on the ropes. WWE is starting to throw out dirty tactics by babyfaces too casually—I know this has happened before with Rey Mysterio recently, but come on. No one can be Eddie Guerrero (except Chavo Guerrero). Keep cheating to heels.
