Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the important founded and unfounded rumors floating around the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed over the past few days. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
AEW to move from Daily's Place
AEW is reportedly moving from Daily's Place to a new venue in Miami in February. It is unclear where exactly in Miami, but the reason for this rumored move is to allow wrestlers to perform in warmer temperatures and to boost morale in the locker room. AEW Revolution will also be affected by this move. (Source: Bodyslam.net)
We say: It apparently gets really cold in Jacksonville during the winter, and since Daily's Place is an outdoor venue, it's pretty rough for the talent. Good on AEW to care about their wrestlers' wellbeing.
Erick Redbeard has not signed with AEW
Erick Redbeard, best known as Erick Rowan from his time in WWE, has reportedly not signed a deal with AEW following his appearance on Dynamite last week. His deal was just for the cameo appearance on the Brodie Lee tribute episode. (Source: WON)
We say: While it would be nice for him to get a spot on the AEW roster, everyone involved must have their own reasons for the deal not happening. We wish Redbeard the best of luck (to get in a company that has good writing for him).
NJPW close to new English-language TV show
NJPW is apparently close to signing a new deal that would give them a new English-language TV show in the US. Their previous English TV show, NJPW on AXS, was canceled after Impact Wrestling's parent company Anthem Sports and Entertainment bought a majority share in AXS TV. There are no details yet on which US network it could be, only that it is a matter of time. (Source: F4WOnline)
We say: That would be great, and we hope that it's more than the NJPW Strong programming.
