The Grapevine (8/21/20): The Emancipation of Renee Young

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    • Renee Young is reported to be leaving WWE, and SummerSlam will be her last show. There are no updates yet on where she will be headed after. (Source: talkSPORT, Wrestling Observer Live)
We say: Good on Renee—we wish her the best on wherever she wants to go next.
    • Rey and Dominik Mysterio are apparently considering the name "Prince Mysterio" for the latter. The two have actually discussed it to happen after he receives more training, and the mask and gear have already been designed. (Source: ESPN)
We say: Well, it doesn't sound terrible at all. How he does in the match on Sunday will determine whether he fits the Prince gimmick.
    • The Forgotten Sons were reportedly supposed to win the SmackDown Tag Team Champions before Jaxson Ryker expressed support for Donald Trump on Twitter. The stable, who had been feuding with the New Day back in June, had not been seen on TV since then, even though members Wesley Blake and Steve Cutler tried to do damage control for Ryker's comments. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: Interesting that they'd pull the Forgotten Sons over that when the McMahon family is a known Trump ally. Not that we're condoning Ryker's words, but shouldn't there be heat on Vince and Linda, too?

Let us know what you think of today's news in the comments!
