The Grapevine (8/17/20): No Way But The Amway

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    • WWE's new (temporary) home outside the Performance Center is the Amway Center in Orlando. The company's deal with the arena reportedly runs through October, and fans will not be allowed to attend events. Virtual fans will apparently be displayed via giant LED boards in the audience. NXT is being planned to move back into the NXT Arena in Full Sail University. (Source: MyNews13, Wrestling Inc)
We say: The virtual crowd seems like a step down from the limited audience they've got going on in the Performance Center, but we'll see. At this point, we've resigned ourselves to the show going on.
    • Almost everyone in the WWE has reportedly reached out to AEW to test the waters. The only WWE superstar who apparently hasn't done so is Roman Reigns. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: It wouldn't be a long shot to hear that people are thinking of jumping ship, but it's also a bit of a reach to say that almost everyone—even if it's "virtually" everyone—actually tried it. We believe those in good spots in WWE are willing to stay there.
    • WWE filed a new trademark for Saturday Night's Main Event. This may be an indication that the company is looking to bring the show back. It last aired on NBC back in 2008. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: Well, okay. Sure. Not like SNME had ever been a needle-mover, especially back in the 2000s.
