- Rey Mysterio is apparently working without a WWE contract. His contract, which he signed in September 2018, expired some time ago. However, it seems that there are still long-term plans for him following Extreme Rules: Horror Show. (Source: WON)
We say: Interesting, and potentially sketchy, but so long as they're paying Rey his due, this should be okay. We are pretty concerned for the guy, though, but we also hope this means he's free to work wherever he wants.
- Vince McMahon reportedly pulled Shayna Baszler from TV last May. It's being said that he doesn't understand Baszler's MMA fighter style and character, plus she doesn't fit his mold of a traditional woman wrestler. Baszler is returning to TV in a future episode of Main Event. (Source: WON)
We say: It was only a matter of time, really, given McMahon's boomer mentality. It's a sad way to treat someone as talented as Shayna, and it seems going back to NXT (or someone really influential going to bat for her) will be the only saving grace for her WWE run.
- WWE has removed ring announcers from the ring on their latest set of tapings. They aren't gone entirely, as they perform their duties outside the ring and will apparently only go inside for title matches. While this seems to be a new innovation, this could change again in future tapings. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: Seems like a strange move outside the context of COVID-19.
