The Grapevine (7/1/20): State of the Taping Sessions

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
    • Many people were not present on this week's RAW episode for various reasons. While there was a spike in positive COVID-19 cases, it isn't the sole reason for the absences. While Riddick Moss and Kevin Owens have joined Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn as among those who are staying home to avoid the virus, Natalya and Tyson Kidd were asked to stay home after Kidd came to tapings with a fever, although he tested negative for COVID-19. Liv Morgan and Natalya were also on a boat trip with Mandy Rose and her family. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: Our stance remains the same: stop the damn shows.
    • Bray Wyatt had been off TV since after Money in the Bank as he and JoJo welcomed their second child. Their daughter Hyrie was born on May 28, after which Wyatt took time off, leading WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman to feud with The Miz and John Morrison for Backlash. Wyatt will be challenging Strowman again in a non-title Wyatt Swamp Fight for Extreme Rules: The Horror Show on July 19, which will be another movie-style match. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: Congratulations to Bray and JoJo, but is it really wise for him to risk exposing himself to COVID-19 when he's got a newborn at home? Don't do this.
    • Velveteen Dream got into a car accident last Friday. He had reportedly failed to stop at a red light, hitting another car. He had not appeared on NXT since allegations of sexual misconduct against him recently surfaced. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: Yikes. Let's hope Dream doesn't get himself into any more trouble moving forward, or else we could see this run getting cut shorter than we expect.
