The Grapevine (6/29/20): Good Brothers Can Make Impacts

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
    • Impact Wrestling is still reportedly looking to sign Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. The two, who have appeared on promotional material for Slammiversary this July, have not yet signed a deal with the company, although word is they are close to doing so. This deal would apparently allow them to work for NJPW when travel is permitted again. Their no-compete expires on July 18, the date of Slammiversary. (Source: Pro Wrestling Sheet)
We say: The Good Brothers would be quite the big get for Impact, but honestly, stop the shows until the US fixes its COVID-19 problem.
    • WWE is apparently interested in former Impact World Champion Tessa Blanchard. Blanchard, who was released from Impact last week, received feelers from the company. There is no word on any interest from AEW, where her father Tully Blanchard works. (Source: Wrestling Observer Radio)
We say: After everything that's happened, and her being stuck in Mexico, you'd still wanna take a chance on Tessa? Granted, she will bring buzz with her, but we're not exactly sure it's the right kind of buzz.
    • WWE plans to resume NXT UK tapings sometime in the next two months. The plan right now is to tape empty-arena shows when permitted again. Meanwhile, Travis Banks and Ligero, as well as Jack Gallagher have been released from WWE in light of sexual harassment and abuse allegations made by survivors during the #SpeakingOut movement. (Source: Gary Cassidy on Twitter)
We say: NXT UK has been hit hard by the #SpeakingOut movement, but it could use this downtime to regroup and make sure it can focus on the right people. Given the volume of allegations in the British scene in general, we feel like the reckoning isn't over just yet, so they will likely have to figure out who will be essential to the brand's rebuilding.
