The Grapevine (6/26/20): COVID Chaos Is Getting Worse

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
    • A number of WWE talent and several employees have now officially tested positive for COVID-19. Kayla Braxton, who had apparently been the talent who had tested positive the first time a few months ago, and Renee Young have officially declared themselves positive with the virus. An extra used in the tapings, "The Ultimate Pusher" Tyreke from Major League Wrestling, had also tested positive. There are apparently more unidentified talents who tested positive. This has now resulted in increased rapid testing in the tapings, with those who test negative being allowed to work.

On a related note, AEW President Tony Khan recently announced that AEW Champion Jon Moxley was inhibiting himself from their shows in the foreseeable future due to secondhand exposure from Young. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: STOP. THE DAMN. SHOWS. And if they're not going to stop the shows, the people with actual families to take care of—which is most of the roster—need to get together and take a stand. This virus is bigger than wrestling!
    • Impact Wrestling has stripped Tessa Blanchard of the Impact World Championship and terminated her contract. Blanchard, who had been stuck in Mexico due to lockdowns brought about by COVID-19, was apparently released for her failure to "cooperate" in taping weekly episodes. She was reportedly supposed to send promos for an Impact Wrestling episode but did not, and both sides could not work out her return to the country. (Source: PWInsider)
We say: It's a pretty bad look for what was initially a historic landmark for Impact, but they're lucky that Blanchard isn't exactly beloved at the moment. They did what they needed to do.
    • Charlotte Flair is reportedly pursuing a TV career. Ric Flair revealed on the Wrestling Inc Daily podcast that she is being "actively pursued for a TV series." This follows rumors that she was written off storylines on this week's episode of RAW after an attack by Nia Jax, and that she would be taking an extended break from pro wrestling until January. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: That's definitely interesting, but we're not quite sure if she's got the chops for that, if her strange promo voice is anything to go by. But maybe acting in front of a TV camera would be a different kind of beast.
