The Grapevine (6/17/20): Guess What, It's Getting Real

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!
    • WWE comes down with another confirmed case of COVID-19 at the Performance Center. The positive case is an unnamed developmental talent, and it resulted in everyone at the venue getting what seemed to be the very first COVID-19 testing the company has done since the pandemic broke out. Prior to this, the company had only been checking temperatures, filling out health surveys, and implementing physical distancing.

Some talent are worried and upset about the lack of urgency regarding their health, especially after the company had allowed fans to be present at Monday's tapings, which the wrestlers were not told about. There are those who are reportedly and understandably upset with the company's lack of communication during the company. (Source: PWInsider, Wrestling Inc)
We say: And here it finally is—the sound of shit hitting the fan.

We don't want to sound self-righteous here because we're all suffering somehow, but those upset at the lack of care being shown them should've known how the company was likely to act when they fired all those people a couple of months ago. Now the world's most careless and cavalier sports company when it comes to COVID-19 is finally feeling the effects, and we fear that there will be more positive coronavirus cases to come out of this debacle. This isn't to say other companies like AEW and Impact are safe; you can never really know even with safety measures in place, but WWE truly looks stupid here for not taking any of this too seriously beyond holding empty-arena shows. If it turns into a real mess, this could be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
    • Vince McMahon is reportedly high on Angel Garza. The young Mexican star is apparently a big favorite of the boss, who believes he's a "young Eddie Guerrero." (Source: talkSPORT)
We say: We already knew. Of course Vince was late to this party.
