What's the Future of Wrestling in the Wake of COVID-19? This Digital Summit Will Give You an Idea

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic put the world into a halt, the question in every wrestling fan's minds is when they can watch live shows again. While WWE and AEW, as well as some Japanese promotions, continue to hold shows without an audience and capitalizing on online streaming, many have decided to cancel shows for the safety of everyone involved.

Over here in Southeast Asia, promotions have started to adapt and prepare for the "new normal" once lockdowns are lifted. We don't know what's going to be in store for local wrestling shows, but this digital summit hosted by Grapple MAX will give us an idea.

Grapple MAX Game Changers is a pro wrestling summit happening on Facebook Live on May 22, 8:30pm featuring panelists from all across the region: Rederick Mahaba (PWR), Shaukat (Malaysia Pro Wrestling), P-Nutz (TOP Dojo), Vins (Wrestle Square), Ho Ho Lun (Hong Kong Wrestling Federation), and Sid Nguyen (Saigon Pro-Wrestling Club). They'll be discussing the future of the wrestling scene in their respective countries amid the global pandemic, and it will be moderated by Grapple MAX founders "Endboss" Gregory and Dennis "The Ladykiller."

"Pro wrestling as a collective movement in Asia has been gathering a lot of momentum in the last few years, and we refuse to surrender all that progress this abruptly," The Ladykiller tells Smark Henry. "Instead of being passive about the situation, we organized an event that brought industry leaders together to provide value to our common audience."

"We've got plenty of athletes and fans, forced into isolation, who are looking for some hope or a spark of inspiration. It's time to act purposefully. The message is this: we're all in the same boat, and sinking isn't in our plans. So let's get out of this together," he adds.

The Game Changers digital summit will also allow viewers to send in questions, which will be answered by the panelists during the live Q&A. So if you want to ask about the status of shows in Southeast Asia and what the "new normal" will be once lockdowns are lifted, this is your chance.
