The Grapevine (5/22/20): The Double or Nothing Injury Report

Welcome to the Grapevine! This section of Smark Henry is where we round up all the founded and unfounded rumors abound the pro wrestling scene that you may have missed. Remember to take everything with a grain of salt!

    • Despite taking some nasty bumps on this week's episode of Dynamite, Rey Fenix, Britt Baker, and Matt Jackson are still scheduled for Double or Nothing on Saturday (Sunday Philippine time). Fenix landed hard on the floor after an outside dive, Jackson injured himself on a dive off the stands, while Nyla Rose was thrown on Baker's knee. (Source: Wrestling Inc)
We say: Let's hope they're all all right, as all of those sounded terrible.
    • Vince McMahon may still be keeping the XFL going. While the league filed for bankruptcy back in early April due to the effects of COVID-19, XFL President Jeffrey Pollack is still apparently being paid his salary, and was rumored to be talking to Seattle and St. Louis about renewing their leases. (Source: The Athletic)
We say: It makes sense, as the XFL was doing okay for itself before COVID-19 struck. If this is him trying to find a way to get football players and management paid, then good on him—but it's likely still just him trying to make his huge investment still work. The only problem is even if he did bail the XFL out, is there really a timetable on when they could play games? Would it even benefit from an empty-arena setup?
